Look after Yourself! An Explanatory Tape for Adult Educators

A lo-fi health advice video from the depths of the '80s offering a window into a land before lycra.

Documentary 1983 21 mins

Overview

A lo-fi, analogue video fly alights on the wall of a health advice training session in the heart of 1980s Middle England. For better or worse it seems a long way from the day-glo lycra, high-intensity training and booming beats of today’s gym culture. The removed, observational camera of the 'Northampton Health Authority C.C.T.V Unit' may be lacking in style, but it brings a real authenticity to the proceedings.

This government film is a public record, preserved and presented by the BFI National Archive on behalf of The National Archives, home to more than 1,000 years of British history.
