London and Its Life

The end of Edwardian London: tour of the fashionable quarters of the nation's capital under the reign of a new King

Travelogue 1910 6 mins Silent

Overview

There are plenty of familiar landmarks in this whistle-stop tour of some the more fashionable quarters of London. These scenes were filmed in the second half of 1910, as the nation began to move beyond the Edwardian era under the reign of a new King. A young George V is filmed paparazzi-style performing the ceremony of the City Sword. This was the first of a five-part series of films on the city, here focusing on "Social and Fashionable London".
