Overview

Sports reporter Simon Smith drops in to see the Wolverhampton-based track cyclist Hugh Porter, who is deep in training for the 1970 World Championships, due to be held in the UK for the first time since 1904. We also get a glimpse into Porter's home life as we meet his wife, the swimming champion Anita Lonsbrough, seen pegging out his washing - a far cry from her 1960 Olympic swimming gold medal.

Hugh Porter was successful in the World Championships that year winning his third World Pursuit title. He later made the move into commentary, becoming the voice of both British swimming and cycling.
