French Military Procession
Military processions could usually be relied on to draw a crowd, both in the streets and later in the cinemas.
Overview
Military processions in the Victorian age could be relied on to draw a crowd, and filmmakers weren't slow to realise their commercial potential. In this slightly longer than average procession film, a column of French infantry, as well as a few mounted soldiers, process past the camera. Produced for RW Paul's Animatograph Works, the film is an example of the kind of event - predictable and planned well in advance - that was bread and butter for the film producers.
