Fire Brigade Turn-out in the Country

Slightly leisurely fire turn out from the volunteer firemen at Shere, Surrey

Non-Fiction 1899 1 mins Silent

Overview

Charles Goodwin Norton filmed this staged demonstration with a gentle comic twist. The local firemen get the engine harnessed and off to the fire, slightly impeded by pedestrians and dogs, leaving one of their number to bring up the rear on a bicycle. A delightful scene of Surrey village life in the late 1890s.
