Overview

Bridport Carnival was resurrected in 1971 after being abandoned in 1911, throughout WWI and WWII. Held on the third Saturday in August each year, a procession of floats and bands travel through the town during the day starting at West Street. Sunday night sees the evening torchlight parade where thousands of people join together to create a ‘snake of fire’ travelling from Bridport to West Bay where the evening ends in a firework display.
