Overview
This compilation of amateur films shot in the village of Countesthorpe in Leicestershire was put together for a village event in the early 1970s. The sporting scenes from a cycle road race (the most recent material here, probably from 1968) and the outdoor ramble are the expected village fare but the earlier footage of the mysterious 'white washer', who is commenting on the proposed closure of the railway station, is more intriguing.
The 'white washer's' graffiti was to no avail as Countesthorpe railway station was closed on 1 January 1962.
