Children in Front of Factory

Here's looking at you, kids. An early film camera draws in the children in this street scene

Non-Fiction 1900 1 mins Silent

Overview

Factory gates were a popular spot for early movie cameras as they guaranteed crowds to capture on film at clocking on and off times. This example is a little different. Despite the prominent chimney in the background, the focus is a group of children of mixed ages on the street. We can't know whether they were waiting for parents or school, but we can be sure that the story of being filmed in the street was the first thing they would talk about when they got home.
