Beckenham: Fighting It over Again!
Great footage of a fast-paced Varsity hockey match at Beckenham played between Oxford Occasionals and Cambridge Wanderers.
From the collection of:
The Oxford-Cambridge hockey match was first held in 1890 and moved to Beckenham 1909, played at the sports club at Foxgrove Road. In this 1926 encounter, Oxford Occasionals beat Cambridge Wanderers 5-4. After posing for a team line-up, there’s great footage of the game in progress, with the cameraman doing well to keep up with the frantic pace.
