Basingstoke Home Guard
Soldiers amass on the outskirts of Basingstoke... we're doomed! But don't panic! It's just Dad's Army doing a bit of training.
Overview
Spotlight on life in the Home Guard - here are bands of local Hampshire lads being put through their paces at an Army training session in Basingstoke. Crystal clear pictures record a hive of activity: artillery's assembled, gas masks fitted and straw Nazis jabbed with bayonets. But filmed on the outskirts of town, it's a bit surreal seeing civvy cyclists and pram-pushers pass by the military antics.
