Overview

At Astwood Bank near Redditch final limbering up is underway for the local cricket team as they prepare for their biggest ever match: the final of the Haig national village competition to be played at Lord's. With fast bowler Joe Crumpton likened to Australia's feared Dennis Lillee and the rock-like batting presence of captain John Yoxall hopes are high. As reporter Derek Hobson finds out though, some of the training is carried out with a pint glass in hand.
