Overview

As you travel along the Brandy Pad feast your eyes on the mountains that inspired CS Lewis to create giants in Narnia. The heaps of granite hint at the industrious history of the Mournes whose quarries paved the streets of Belfast, Liverpool and Manchester. Then join the British and Irish Conference to mess about in boats at Portaferry. After a visit to White Park Bay return again to the Mournes to explore the Ben Crom Reservoir before joining the Folk Dance Team at Kinnahalla.

In his essay ‘On Stories’ C. S. Lewis wrote that 'I have seen landscapes, notably in the Mourne Mountains and southwards which under a particular light made me feel that at any moment a giant might raise his head over the next ridge’.
