Overview

Once tells the story of a street musician (Glen Hansard from Irish band The Frames) and a Czech immigrant (Marketa Irglova) during an eventful week as they write, rehearse and record songs that reveal a unique love story. Made on a low budget in director John Carney's native Dublin, the film won the Audience Award at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival and an Oscar® for Best Original Song, and it's not difficult to see why. It's a delight – effortlessly charming and romantic, with wonderful performances from the two lead actors.
