Overview

Before Disney came along, the Hungarian Korda Brothers directed this loose, but visually spectacular, adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s celebrated novel. Mowgli is a young boy, raised in the wild by animals, who must protect the jungle’s treasure from the greedy villagers attempting to steal it.

Nominated for four Academy Awards in 1942, including Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography and Best Special Effects, it pops and crackles with improbable images throughout. Full of incredible set pieces, the film was, and continues to be, stunning achievement to behold.
