Overview

Four years before Double Indemnity, Barbara Stanwyck and Fred MacMurray established a lighter partnership in this charismatic comedy, directed by Mitchell Leisen from a script by Preston Sturges. Assistant DA John Sargeant (Fred MacMurray) agrees to escort shoplifter Lee (Stanwyck) back to their home state of Indiana while they await the commencement of her trial. During the trip they fall for each other, but their relationship could spell the end for John’s promising legal career.

Set over the Christmas period but without milking the occasion, Remember the Night makes for the perfect understated festive film; a delightfully played romance garlanded with wit and charm.
