Monty Python's the Meaning of Life
Mr. Creosote, live organ transplants, salmon mousse... The Python's cinematic swansong contains some of the troupe's most notorious and hilarious sketches.
Comedy 1983 107 mins
Director: Terry Jones
Monty Python reunited for their final film outing trying to top one of the funniest films ever made in Life of Brian. In response to the perceived excesses of contemporary comedy, they came up with a series of outrageous sketch ideas, touching upon timeless themes such as sex, war, death and gluttony. Some of their most memorable and hilarious sketches result - there truly is something to offend everyone here.
This is also the film in which Eric Idle's songs reached a highpoint, with jaunty numbers including Every Sperm Is Sacred and The Galaxy Song adding some brilliantly choreographed musical extravagance. The film was rewarded with the Cannes Film Festival's Grand Jury Prize in 1983, narrowly missing out to Shōhei Imamura's The Ballad of Narayama for the Palme d'Or.
