Easy Virtue PG rating

Jessica Biel plays the brash American fiancée who disrupts an upper-class family in this delightful Downton Abbey-esque tale of high-society hijinks.

Comedy 2008 97 mins

Director: Stephan Elliott

Overview

Decades before Downton Abbey there was Noël Coward’s famous society play, filmed previously by Alfred Hitchcock, and resurrected with effervescent charm by Stephan Elliott. A young English aristocrat (Ben Barnes) falls madly in love with a sexy and glamorous American widow (Jessica Biel) and they impetuously get married. When the couple arrive at his new family home, his mother (Kristin Scott Thomas) has an instant allergic reaction to everything about her new daughter-in-law.

With a sparkling cast having enormous fun revelling in Coward’s ageless wit, Easy Virtue is charming period treat with class to spare.
