Overview

Kim Longinotto’s inspirational documentary about Brenda, a Chicagoan charity worker who helps vulnerable sex workers leave the industry. Drawing on her own painful experiences, Brenda manages to connect with her charges where previous social workers have failed, simply because she’s been there herself and seen it all before in a tumultuous and painful life.

The first film made in America by one of Britain’s most acclaimed documentary makers, Dreamcatcher follows a similar theme to Longinotto’s previous South African film, Rough Aunties, and confirms her as the most significant chronicler of women’s issues in contemporary cinema.
