Overview
What is home? After the death of his father, a Hong Kong seaman who married a Liverpool woman, Daniel knows that to lay his father's spirit to rest, he must return the ashes to their ancestral Chinese home. But where is it? Realising he has become detached from his ancestors and with his own baby on the way, Daniel begins a quest of self-discovery. An astute tale of identity and family memory.
Blue Funnel (the title comes from the shipping line that ran between China and Liverpool) was written, directed and produced by Paul Mayeda Berges and Gurinder Chadha, creators of Bride and Prejudice and Bend it Like Beckham.
