Overview

In what can only be described as 'romantic horror,' Black Bear follows a brutally honest dinner conversation between strangers which turns into a surreal love triangle with violent consequences. Lawrence Michael Levine's clever and canny drama toys inventively with notions of truth and fiction, pulling the rug from his audience in a manner reminiscent of David Lynch but in a style all of his own. It's also a delight to watch a trio of fine, metatextual performances from US indie mainstays Aubrey Plaza, Christopher Abbott and Sarah Gadon.
