Lord Durham at Sunderland (1901)

Durham Light Infantry veterans collect their medals for valour in the Boer War.

Non-Fiction 1901 3 mins Silent

Overview

This extremely well-crafted actuality story shows the local lads of the Third Volunteer Battalion of the Durham Light Infantry receiving honours in front of their drill hall ground at the top of Sunderland's High Street West. Twenty-five men were nominated for awards, but by the time this presentation was filmed by Mitchell & Kenyon's camera, five had already returned to action in South Africa.
