Vivid images of Victorian London - but where?

Non-Fiction 1896 2 mins

This is a lively film record, tentatively attributed to Victorian film pioneer RW Paul, of thronging crowds and traffic in the Strand. On the left you can see the Gaiety Theatre (spotted by an eagled-eyed contributor – thank-you) advertising ‘My Girl’ which ran from July to December 1896.

The second part of the film which is attached to the first is R W Paul’s Turn Out of a Fire Brigade filmed in November 1896 in Newcastle at the Westgate Road fire station.
