Overview

In 1930, Alfred Sinfield filmed Felixstowe's seafront attraction of the boating lake where families race model sailing boats. A fashionable pastime that includes prizegiving. Next, an intertitle reads “Constable’s Country” and we see Bridge Cottage, noted as the location for works by John Constable, and nearby Flatford Mill and Willy Lott’s Cottage, a place for painters to practice their art. The film then returns to Felixstowe’s Sports Day and Carnival festivities.

Mr Alfred Sinfield was from Aspley Guise in Bedfordshire. His collection of 16mm colour and black and white films show local events in the years 1929-1940s.
