Overview

It's market day at Uttoxeter in Staffordshire, eight years after Britain joined the European Economic Community and Bruce Grocott is gauging opinion on the arrangement. Some argue that it's a good thing: after all, Britain isn't self-sufficient when it comes to food. While on the other side the focus is on the fact that a European milk lake has resulted in dairy farmers being paid to stop production, which must be a bad thing, right? A thorny issue that is set to run and run.
